Flicks for Free
Wednesday, September 30, 2020 - October 1, 2020
Flicks for Free ft: Clueless, Space Jam, The Truman Show
8:00 PM
Clueless is a 1995 American coming-of-age teen comedy film written and directed by Amy Heckerling. It stars Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Paul Rudd, Dan Hedaya, and Brittany Murphy. It was produced by Scott Rudin and Robert Lawrence. It is loosely based on Jane Austen's 1815 novel Emma, with a modern-day setting of Beverly Hills. The plot centers on Cher Horowitz, a beautiful, popular and rich high school student who befriends a new student named Tai Frasier and decides to give her a makeover.
Space Jam is a 1996 American live-action/animated sports comedy film directed by Joe Pytka and starring basketball player Michael Jordan. The film presents a fictionalized account of what happened between Jordan's initial retirement from the NBA in 1993 and his 1995 comeback, in which he is enlisted by the Looney Tunes to help them win a basketball match against a group of aliens who intend to enslave them as attractions for their theme park. Wayne Knight, Theresa Randle, and Bill Murray appear in supporting roles, while Billy West, Dee Bradley Baker, and Danny DeVito headline the voice cast.
The Truman Show is a 1998 American psychological science fiction comedy-drama film directed by Peter Weir, produced by Scott Rudin, Andrew Niccol, Edward S. Feldman, and Adam Schroeder, and written by Niccol. The film stars Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, a man who grew up living an ordinary life that—unbeknownst to him—takes place on a large set populated by actors for a television show about him. Eventually, he discovers the truth and decides to escape.

Student Engagement Survey
Student Engagement Survey
On behalf of the Office of Student Programming & Life, we invite you to participate in a short survey that will help us provide quality student activities and programming. This year may be unusual, but we know that our community will find unique and creative ways to engage.
Based on your feedback and interests, we hope to offer events and experiences in both online and in-person small groups or socially distant formats following the Safe and Healthy Buckeyes guidelines.
Please note that this survey is neither related nor connected to classroom content decisions, but rather the events and experiences that take place outside of the classroom.
Your thoughts and feedback will be critical as departments and staff make decisions to enhance student life. We thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts!

News from Academic Affairs
Updates from academic affairs
CHANGES: Pass / No Pass:
The University Senate has recently voted to expand options for Autumn 2020 GE and Free Elective courses. Students should plan to discuss this option and the potential impacts with their advisor. Additional information will be shared as details are finalized.
ACTIONS: Zoom Class Etiquette:
Most of us are participating in class virtually in some respect or another, and in most cases we are attending from our homes. It’s understandably tempting to adopt a more casual approach to class under the current circumstances, but we must consider what impacts that can have on each other and on ourselves.
It is in everyone's best interest that we treat classes on Zoom as if we are attending class in person. Some basic Rules of the Road: arrive prepared, clothed, alert, participate professionally, and don’t engage in distracting behavior. What is distracting behavior? Well, anything that wouldn’t be permitted in a classroom environment, or tasks other than engaging in your class. Doing these basic things shows respect to your fellow students, your instructors, and can improve your own classroom experience – mindset matters!
What is going on in the background is also a part of how you are interacting in the virtual space. If there is the potential for distraction, use a virtual background or pick a new location to Zoom in to classes. Be cognizant of what might be on display behind you and the impact it could have on other students. Be yourself, but take care to present your courteous and professional self. Learn more about tips for success in online classes and Zoom etiquette from keeplearning.osu.edu
